Rumours you might have heard
(Don't believe 'em all)

A great album, back in the day.  It was easy to have some lustful thoughts about the ethereal Stevie Nicks, wasn't it?  If you were there, you remember.

But let's change Rumours to Rumors (being Yanks, and all) and go from there:

Rumor #1:  The King is dead!  The King is dead!!  The King is........Oh!........Never mind!  (Miss Emily Litella would be proud of those folks)  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OjYoNL4g5Vg

Rumor #2:  Rumors of the batting renaissance of other our King (of Spalding) are perhaps overstated.  5-45 since April 11th, over his last 14 starts.  Oh, 18 K's to go along with.  1-16 vs. LHP.  He did get an incredible jump on that game-ending flash of leather, however:  Credit where it is due, of course.

Rumor #3:  Rumors of Dipoto giving a rip about Martin's rusty-gatedness vs. southpaws seem to be just that, rumors.  O'Malley, who gets on base vs. LHP and has covered CF decently in the past has 0 Tacoma starts in CF.  Almost all of them belong to Boog, and he's hitting .211-.250-.263 vs. LHP.`Aoki in CF?  Please no.

Rumor #4:  Rumors of Luis Sardinas being on the 25-Man roster may indeed just be rumors:  2 PA's and no starts since April 20th.    In the meantime Taylor and O'Malley are getting on base at a .400 clip and C'ing the Z down on the farm. Will be interesting to see if we sit Marte in the day game on Sunday, vs. the RHP.

Rumor #5:  Austin Wilson hasn't found his stroke. Don't believe rumors to the contrary.  In a repeat year at Bakersfield, he's worse than '15!  Now hitting .195-.290-.317, with 36 K's in 93 PA's.

Rumor #6:  Deej is terrible.  That rumor is true.  .203-.250-.311 in Jackson.

Rumor #7:  It is rumored that Alex Jackson is good. Man, who would know about that rumor????  He's disappeared.  He's supposed to be the #2 prospect in the organization and he remains in some sort of extended ST.  He's flawed.

Rumor #8: This is the rumor I'm starting, forget those three previous guys, we've got Tyler O'Neill!  If his nickname isn't Popeye, it should be.  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DiBPAKFSJ1s

Carry on!  Happy Miley Day.

It's a good one, too.  But Popeye (the Sailor) goes well with Mariners, way better than Tank, anyway.   And I always liked Gene Hackman in The French Connection.

It will remain Tank, I know.  I can live with it.

I know the season is still early, but it is sad to see so many hitters getting off to such poor starts - both at the MLB and minor league levels.

Re: Aoki in CF,

Aoki makes EVERY fly ball, even routine ones in LF, LOOK like an adventure. The way he approaches and sets up to catch a fly is very odd and nerve-wracking. Something tells me that defensively he's got the athletic ability but is almost devoid of instincts.

That was a fun read Keith.  Need to get a column going within the e-zine.  Dawg's Dirt, or somesuch.

Stevie was definitely my type, I admit in the most family-guy kinda spirit.  The wispy gossamer wings and top hat didn't hurt none, either.   At one time Fleetwood Mac was a legit sensation, the "perfect storm" album and the 10 kinds of mystique to go with it.

Think I'll go have another listen...

Cool Emily reference.  For me, this was back in an era when comics had to be funny.  :- )

Thank you! I have been trying to find out what happend to Jackson but have found really nothing. Incredible potential. Jeremy pitched against his San Diego Show.

Fear not! DJ is up to .226!

Tough to have so many would-be-bats all struggling to move up at all. Thankful to see the Zunino, Romero, and others showing some growth.

As evidenced the last few days...have to love that pitching can still win games!!!

Snowing here in Colorado.....Go figure!

Was nearly 90 here on the oregon coast yesterday, Jeff.  Go figure:)

How is jeremy doing?  I haven't checked in a bit. Apologies about that.

90! Yikes! Send some of that please! Three weeks ago we got about 2 feet of snow and then two nights later you could add another 6 inches. Not the normal dry Colorado powder but wet stuff like I used to enjoy in those rare snows in Seattle.

Jeremy's team, Colby Community College finished their regular season and won their Jayhawk Conference for the first time in school history with a record of 38-14. Playoffs start on Saturday with Jeremy pitching the first game. I will let you know what happens. If they make it out of the weekend, they head to Wichita for regionals with the hope then of the JUCCO World Series in Grand Junction. Jeremy missed a start that hurt stats but all relative. He finished regular season at #11 in nation for K's. Way down from where he had been all season but close to all that he would have wanted. That being said.....assuming no snow outs!!!!

Jeff, in my non-tech status, I had to write this twice as froze up....not trying to make your life miserable!

go figure? In Jackson, Steve Baron hitting .310.....DJ Peterson .218.

Extraordinary results, up and down the M's minor-league system, from the most unexpected contributors. Alex Jackson languishes in extended Spring Training into May; DJ Peterson hitting .216, while Steve Johnson and Maickol Guaipe are pitching in the majors and last year's losing teams are winning. Perhaps it's true: 90% of baseball really is  "50% mental"!

The 50% mental! I guess that is why baseball isn't simple to draft young players. If it were just tools, it would be quite easy! I got busy and after about the first two weeks of the season looked up every M's minor league team looking for Jackson. It is amazing the run of would be/could be the M's had in the last decade.
