Dombrowski in as President in #Boston, and Cherington steps down. What about Cherington as GM here in #Seattle? Another great chance for him to take a talent pyramid and win a world series, just like he did when Theo left. Eh?

Dombrowski would've excited me. But who can blame him for going to #Boston? Still, I wish #Lincoln/Mather would've gone after him the same way the franchise went after Cano, promising him THE MOON! If indeed Zduriencik is gone, and I hope so, this hire is way more important than signing Cano. Any number of qualified guys could have helped the temporarily challenged Red Sox. There's probably not many qualified to step into the absolute muck in #Seattle and clean things up. I don't feel the need to figure out who those guys might be.

gnatto: I can actually see them moving themselves all the way up to one spot out of the #Wild card. No chance they pass the Angels or Yankees in the #Wild card spot though.

:: broad smile :: Hey, they're -6 out of the Wild Card in early/mid August. MLB.com has their postseason chances at 3%. As Duke Leto the Sandworm told his gentle Hwi, "How sweet these last few sips of humanity are."

To start with, here's the preferred metaphor for any SEA-NYY trade. Flores throws Ackley out at the plate. As y'know, we live to serve.

After 93 games, with 69 to go, we're 8.5 games out of the #Wild Card game and every team in the AL, minus #Boston, is ahead of us. A 9 game win streak would get us to .500, 51-51. We would likely jump over 4 or 5 teams and be 5 games (or so) out of the WC race. Minus something like that, I'm trading #Jackson to the highest bidder (if there is one....and it won't be much, as he's a '16 FA) and maybe Morrison (for whom there is a market, maybe).

As of today, #Seattle and #Boston are tied for the two worst records in the AL at 42-51. The Mariners need to take control of that race.

During the Mariners-Giants game on Monday, they talked up the Giants' franchise Hall of Famers. I think they said Willie Mays, Willie McCovey, Orlando Cepeda and Juan Marichal ... this struck me as a super-cool "Mt. Rushmore" even though they snubbed Barry Bonds. The four players all played together (right?), were all diverse, were all names that I marveled at when first discovering baseball ....
