The owners of the #Boston Bruins have pledged to donate at least $200,000 to help the professional #Women's #Hockey player, Denna Laing, who suffered a spinal cord injury at Gillette Stadium in an exhibition game the day before the NHL's Winter Classic on New Year's Day.

Johnston is being replaced with Mike Sullivan, the former #Boston Bruins coach. Maybe he will be able to do something to salvage the season.

My general thoughts: DiPoto clearly has a plan and trust in his coaches to be aligned with him on how to implement that plan. It shows a top-to-bottom cohesiveness that we never saw with Z. That strategic thinking also allows him to be more decisive than Z ever was. See how he moved from Iwakuma to plan B. He didn't just pick up the phone to #Boston and make that happen last-minute. Also, while I don't feel amazing about every single deal, on the whole, I feel like we have absolutely raised the floor.

Miley suffers from pitching in #Boston (ERA is 3.60 on the road) so I'm sure he won't mind moving to the Safe. It will protect him from his lack of an arsenal. He's basically Jason Vargas. He's under contract for 3 more years (with a 4th year option) so at least we have his rights for a minute if we add him. The Red Sox traded 3 players for him a year ago, though, so I don't know what they'll want for their so-far "league average" arm.

Brad Marchand of the Bruins was speared in the groin by Canucks's Brandon Prust during Saturday's game. Marchand showed no remorse for the rather painful hit either.
