I think it was the 1995 Player Handbook, which was the one that Bill James formatted in a Q-and-A format. He intro'ed it by saying he was only going to ask those questions that some readers might NOT know the answers to.
That, in a nutshell, captures the Think Tank. If it's "fresh," it's fair game.
In the past, SSI has sharply disagreed with the general consensus on players like Tim Lincecum, James Paxton, Kyle Seager, Brandon League, Michael Pineda, and of course SSI has always been right. We defy you to find a counterexample. ... hey, if we'd been wrong, would we be listing them here? I think NOT
We usually try to start by matching a player up with a template - say, Felix Hernandez with Tom Seaver / Roger Clemens / The Bill James Pitcher Family of "polished righties." We'll ask what the aiki mechanics say. In 600 words or whatever (ha!) we hope you'll have your arms around the situation. If not, please call for a refund. Dial 1-800-THERAPY
Cheers,
