Humpback Whales Invade New York!

If you’re a fan of whale watching, there’s a new place in the States that’s becoming famous for it - New York City. Some of the largest numbers of humpback whales ever recorded have been hanging out in the Atlantic, just off the Rockaway peninsula. In fact, they’re coming in so close that you can see them from the tops of the city’s towering buildings.

The total number of whale sightings is up to 87 so far this year with at least 19 different whales being identified thus far. This is all part of a trend that’s made the New York region a favorite spot of whales since 2010. So if you’re in the mood for some whales, there’s never been a better time. Jump on a whale watching cruise and head out onto the water before they decide they’ve seen enough of New York and want to go visit someplace else.
