Looking for the best place to take your new date? Here are some fun ideas that almost guarantee a good time with someone new in your life.

• Sightseeing. Travel around your town like you’re tourists, seeing all of the things in your own town that you’ve always meant to—or take your date somewhere he or she has never been before. Boston is full of all kinds of great places to see and things to do; check out the local visitor’s center to see what’s available.
• Eating out. This one is a no-brainer, but the best thing about eating together is that you can spend lots of time talking with one another and getting to know your date without a lot of pressure, loud music, or other distractions. It’s also a good way to find out if you enjoy the same types of food—or to simply give new foods a try.
• Zoo. The zoo always provides you with plenty of time to leisurely walk, as well as with plenty of subjects to talk about. Between all of the animals, the food, the conservation centers and other learning areas, there is bound to be something fun to do together.
• Park/Fishing. Another date that provides you with plenty of time to get to know one another, going to the park or going fishing is a nice, quiet activity for people who love the outdoors to enjoy together. Of course, if it’s a first date with someone you don’t know, going fishing alone on a boat may not be the best idea; stick to the shoreline with plenty of other fishers if that’s your plan.
• Skating. If you enjoy skating, it can be a very romantic activity to share together. It allows a couple to hold hands, though it doesn’t provide you with a lot of time to talk—especially if your skating rink is a loud one! Try going on couples’ night for a more romantic environment.
• A bouncy house! As silly as it sounds, this is a great way to get past your inhibition and have some good, childish fun. Some bouncy houses only admit children, but many also allow adults to play; call your local bouncy house to make sure before you schedule your date.
• Coffeehouse. This cozy setting is a favorite first date for many singles since it’s public while still being intimate enough for a private conversation.
