Artists Sleep on the Streets to Help Homeless Youth

A lot of people claim that something needs to be done to help the population of homeless kids living on the streets of New York, but with most people their level of commitment ends with words. One group of Broadway artists, however, took it to the next level and actually camped out on the street in order to help raise awareness of the problem.

The group gathered outside of a Manhattan shelter and not only slept there, but also performed and raised money for the shelter. The total amount they brought in was more than $200,000 - not a bad start. In addition, they provided some entertainment and inspiration for the homeless youth, something that is perhaps even more valuable than money. Good for them, I say. If only more people would get directly involved then we might not have the problem we have today.
