Say Goodbye to NYC’s Oldest Bowling Alley

Bowling may not hold the same level of popularity as it once did, but when you hear that the oldest alley in New York is about to be closed down, it makes something inside you hurt a little bit. Bowlmor Lanes in Greenwich Village has been around for 76 years, but will not be returning for a 77th. It’s not the owner’s fault, instead being the decision of the landlord, who refrained from offering a new lease.

It’s a shame, considering how many famous faces have made their way through this bowling alley. It’s a piece of history, in fact. And now it will be trashed so that someone can put up some condos. Typical money-grubbing BS, if you ask me. If only we could get it declared as some sort of historical landmark, maybe we could save the day?
