NYC Famous Faces - Martin Scorsese

New York City is a place that attracts people from all over the world. As a result, we’ve seen quite a few famous faces come out of the city or settle down to make their homes there. Here’s a spotlight on just one of those celebrity personalities.

Born in Queens, the man known as Martin Scorsese was raised by parents who were both struggling actors. Due to his poor health, he would be prevented to from doing the active things that most other kids did. Instead, he turned his sights toward the cinema.

When it came time to go to college, Scorsese went to film school. There he would create several short films and meet some of the people he would later work with on a regular basis. Eventually, he would move into the ranks of Hollywood and create Mean Streets, his breakthrough film.

From there, Scorsese would continue to impress audiences, first with Taxi Driver (1976) and then later movies like Raging Bull (1980), The Color of Money (1986), Goodfellas (1990) and a seemingly endless string of others. He has since come to be known as one of the world’s most talented directors and a true point of pride among New York film lovers.
