The costumed folks in New York City’s Times Square have gained a reputation for being a little unruly at times. In one particular case, the guy that dresses up as Spider-Man had a scuffle with the cops. The story is that the cops asked him for his ID and he refused to give it to them so the two sides began to exchange blows. In the end, Spider-Man was charged with several things though he managed to beat them all.
Now he says that he’s suffering from “severe mental anguish”. And that he felt humiliated and experienced a loss of reputation. How bad does it have to be for Spider-Man to have a reputation crisis? I mean, everyone knows who he is and the man in the Times Square suit hasn’t been sued for copyright infringement yet, so I’d think he’s gotten off pretty easy. But he does not agree and has elected to sue the city for $1.5 million. Seriously? People get their limbs blown off in combat and don’t even get that much money. You want more than a million bucks because your feelings are hurt? You, sir, give Spider-Man a bad name.
