A Bit About Clint Dempsey

Seattle Sounders player #2 is Clint Dempsey. Dempsey is a forward for the team and weighs in at 170 pounds. He stands 6’1 tall. The 32-year-old is a designated player from Nacogdoches, Texas. Dempsey was born on March 9, 1983 and is often identified by his many tattoos. The Seattle Sounders signed Dempsey on to play as a Designated Player on August 3, 2013 after he’d already established a career full of great stats, wins and awards.

In his regular season play, Dempsey has a record including 125 games played. He has scored 118 goals during his regular games with the Seattle Sounders and New England Revolution. With the same companies, he has played a total of 10,668 minutes on the field.

During college, Dempsey spent three years with the Furman Paladins from 2001-2003. He played forward and midfield, ending his career with the team with a total of 17 goals. Prior to that, during his youth career he was with the Dallas Texans from 1998 to 2001.

Other career highlights for Dempsey include serving on loan to Fulham in 2014, being a member of Tottenham Hotspur from 2012 to 2013, being a member of Fulham from 2007 to 2012, and playing for New England Revolution from 2004-2006. Dempsey played in the 2009 Confederations Cup, 2010 World Cup, 2011 Gold Cup, 2014 World Cup and 2015 Gold Cup. He was a runner-up for the FIFA Confederations Cup and has won numerous awards and honors. Some of them include the US Soccer Athlete of the Year in 2007, 2011, and 2012, the Fulham Player of the Season in both 2010 to 2011 and 2011 to 2012, Honda Player of the Year in 2006, 2011 and 2012, and MLS Rookie of the Year in 2004.

Dempsey has shown a temper on the field, resulting in a fine and suspension after he ripped up the notebook of a ref in 2015. Dempsey’s middle name is Drew and his nickname is “Deuce.” He is married and is the son of Aubrey and Debbie Dempsey. A family man, Dempsey used to receive rides from his family to practice, accumulating many miles on six-hour road trips to Dallas. He has four siblings.
