A few more notable Netflix streaming options
Not long ago I shared my excitement that several excellent films were available via Netflix streaming, including Ghostbusters and Confessions of a Dangerous Mind. But in all my excitement, I missed a few potential other gems that at least deserve a mention.
First and foremost among them, the documentary Room 237, a film about the obsessive Stanley Kubrick The Shining fans and their conspiracy theories about the movie. Until now, I had no idea so many hardcore fans had so many wild ideas about whether Kubrick's film had hidden messages. Their interpretations are so out there at times I had to laugh, but for me, it was interesting to at least see up close just how dedicated one film's fans can actually become.
It's not the greatest, and you might find it a bit ridiculous, but if you love film, give Room 237 a look and see what you think. This is not a film about all the hidden messages (supposedly) - it's more about the people, fans and scholars, who believe they exist. There's a possibility you'll hate it, but please don't hate me. I'm just giving you some new options.
And for those of you hoping for a little Halloween scare or two, Paranormal Activity 4 is (finally) streaming on Netflix now. Be warned: Reviews for this fourth installment in the wildly popular series are pretty dismal. From what I hear, they really should've left this one well enough alone. This is what happens when greed supersedes good judgment. Still, it's streaming, so it's not a total loss if you wind up hating it, right?
I haven't seen Paranormal Activity 4 personally, so I can't say whether it's on par with the other films. I think the last one I saw involved a pool cleaner (was that PA2? I think it was), and I was so wigged out I vowed to never see one of these again. To this day I'm leery of pool cleaning devices. If you can stand the scares, I say go for it.
Has anyone watched anything streaming lately that's noteworthy? If so let's hear about it!
