One of my favorite 60's songs is a haunting track from The Doors' self-titled first album that resounded like a thunderclap in 1967. The track was entitled "The Crystal Ship," and somehow after reading this morning that the M's had lost again in their reverse-direction Wild Card "chase" my mind turned to the opening lyrics to the song, "Before you slip into unconsciousness..."

I'm a displaced Seahawks bandwagon-fan, so I'm always worked about about #Baseball! Until the Steelers lose their rapist QB and animal abuser backup, I'll have a love-hate relationship with my local team... Anyway.

There is the Bridgestone Winter Classic that was just played and then there are 2 Coors Light Stadium Series games still to be played. One on Feb 21 - the #Wild and the Blackhawks. One on Feb 27 - the Avalanche and the Red Wings

Andrei Vasilevskiy of the #Tampa Bay Lightning reminded all of us why it is important for goalies to remain in their net! In the game against the #Wild, Vasilevskiy wandered a little too far to play the puck and the #Wild scored an empty-net goal. I'm sure he was reamed by his coaches for this move but it was entertaining to watch!

Yes...his roster was already complete, so it would be easier for him to pitch the idea of overspending a bit for a bargain asset to the committee, since he's already proven he can pinch pennies when he needs to and this makes him more likely to be trusted by the bigwigs. Also, he has the freedom, now that everything is set up, to clearly demonstrate the need for Iwakuma. The off-season is now essentially over...and boy has it been a #Wild one.

The #Wild have claimed Jarret Stoll off waivers from the #New_York Rangers. The #Wild made a bid for Stoll this summer when he was a free agent so it was not surprising when he was put on waivers that he was grabbed by the #Wild.

Keith Ballard of the #Wild has decided to retire. Last year Ballard suffered a concussion and multiple facial fractures that has left him battling back to get back to his former condition.

Sounds about right, Padna. DiPoto is trying to reduce the #Wild swings among our less-talented / less expensive players. Getting an 85 OPS+ from SS is better than the chance to land between 65-95... especially because the Mariners have been landing on the 65 for about 12 years in a row now. We need an expectation, not a range.
