For more adventurous couples that prefer uniqueness over luxury, there’s a great place just over two hours east of Los Angeles known as Kate’s Lazy Desert Airstream Motel.  The west coast equivalent of their New York location, this place was put together by one of the members of the B-52s and it definitely shows.  The property consists of six airstream trailers, all decorated in crazy style and situated in the middle of the desert.  No luxuries here, just a trailer and a barrel to burn wood in to warm up at night.  Lovers of the unusual or desert explorers will find this to be a true gem among motels.  Has anyone ever had the chance to get out to the Airstream Motel before?
