To many of us, it seems like New York City has gone crazy lately. Shootings appear to be happening left and right, and not the usual kind. These shootings are a step above and move into the realm of the disturbing. First of all, a father shot and almost killed his entire family because of jealousy. Then a former worker for FOX shot himself right outside his old workplace. Another man got into an argument with his Home Depot co-worker which resulted in him shooting his co-worker and then himself. And to top it all off, a retired officer committed suicide in the middle of a courthouse.
Suicides are one thing, but taking innocent people with you on your way out is something else entirely. Perhaps it’s time for our city to look into stepping up its game in the mental health department? Something tells me that if we had more options for disturbed people, that we might see less in the way of killings and suicides.
