JC Penney goes back to having sales
Don't call it a comeback, I been here for years
It’s hard not to feel a LITTLE bad for JC Penney’s new CEO, Ron Johnson. Once the head of Apple’s retail division, largely responsible for creating the phenomenon that is the Apple store, Johnson took the helm of JC Penny at a dark time in the company’s history.
Johnson made a perfect, sensible change: he did away with Penney’s constant sales. From that point forward, the price would just be the price. No need to wonder if it’s going on sale next week and you could get a better deal then.
People hated it.
After recently going back to the “now we have sales” program, Penney’s is looking up. That’s gotta sting. (Although I’m sure Johnson can just rub some of his millions on it and make the pain go away.)
