That Cat Café is Finally Open!
Rejoice, New Yorkers! For the cat café we’ve all been waiting for (or at least some of us have been waiting for) has finally opened. The Meow Parlour made its grand debut on Monday, opening its doors so that catless people across the city can come down and spend some time with a feline friend. And, if they so choose, they can adopt any of the animals that are ‘employed’ there.
There are eight cats at a time in the café and they’ll be rotated as fast as they can be adopted. Unfortunately (fortunately?), only the best-mannered cats are allowed to hang out there, so you won’t find a good mouser or a scrappy feline with attitude problems. It’s $4 per half-hour to stay and play with the cats (there’s a special deal for kids) and you’ll want to bring along some money for coffee and snacks as well. Currently you can only get in by appointment, but that should all change with the new year, if the owners have their way.
