Explore Some Nearby Festivals in December

Great festivals happen all throughout the year in New Orleans. From music to food to celebrations that fill the city streets, there are all types. Here are a couple of interesting ones taking place during the month of December. If you’re looking for a place to take a date, consider one of these.

Louisiana Renaissance Festival - Hammond - Dec 6th & 7th

Take a short drive north and away from both the city and the modern age at the Louisiana Renaissance Festival. Experience jousts, great costumes, olde-styled food and drink and plenty of lively people. For the couple that enjoys something different, this is an excellent way to spend a few days.

Christmas Bonfire Party - Oak Alley Plantation - Dec 6th

It’s the 39th year for this annual event, so take a drive out west to Vacherie to take part. There will be plenty of food along with music and dancing. Then a procession makes its way to the levee to light the bonfire. Best of all, the locals dress up in period clothing, transporting you back to another time.
