Pinworthy Pinterest apps

13 apps to turn you into a pinning pro.

Pinterest, the online pinboard and time-suck for women everywhere, is pretty straightforward. You find something you like on the web, pin it (or repin it) and voilà! That craft project you’ll probably never get to is right at your fingertips. With one in five women online using Pinterest, there’s more to pin and repin than ever. To satisfy your pinning addiction, these 13 apps will help you get the most of that precious pinning time.

Pinvolve: The Pinvolve application syncs your Facebook and Pinterest pages by pulling your pins, Instagram photos and Facebook posts into one place on your Facebook page. It also converts your Facebook posts into pins. Each week, you’ll be sent an analytic report detailing your popularity and pinworthiness on Pinterest.

Share As Image: This app, formerly known as Pin A Quote, lets you highlight text in your web browser and turn it into a pinnable quote.

Shotpin: The Shotpin Chrome browser extension allows you to take a screenshot of any page open in chrome and share it on Pinterest. Instead of pinning just one image from your site, the entire screen can be captured for upload. Url2pin and Snapito provide similar services without adding any extensions to your browser.

Pingraphy: If pinning during your waking hours just isn't enough, this handy tool allows you to schedule your pins. Pin while you sleep! You can bulk upload pins, schedule them and track clicks, likes and repins.

Followers on Pinterest: If you’re the compulsive type (or if you want to hold a grudge), you may enjoy this app that allows you to see who follows and unfollows you on Pinterest. Not only can you see recent unfollowers, but you can also see everyone who has unfollowed you, ever. Available for iPhone, iPad and iPod Touch.

Pinterest e-mail app: Your e-mail account can be just another pawn in your Pinterest games by using the Pinterest e-mail app. The app displays your latest pins and a link to your Pinterest profile in each of your e-mails. You can display your pins on the bottom or the side of your e-mails.

Pinstamatic: One of my personal favorites, Pinstamatic lets you pin outside the box. Pinning photos is just the beginning! This tool helps you pin quotes, songs from Spotify, websites, sticky notes, your Twitter profile, calendar dates and clickable maps. You can also add captions to your photos before pinning. It’s a terrific tool to enhance your pinning experience.

Spinpicks: The Spinpicks app helps pinners be more responsible in their pinning activities. Nothing is more frustrating than finding your work attributed to another person. Spinpicks only spins pins with original attribution. It never shows pins from sites like Google, Bing or Facebook, where ambiguity enters the pinning picture. This app is still in Beta.

Pinpuff: Wondering how much clout you have on Pinterest? This app will help you figure it out, complete with a reach score, activity score and virality score. You can also see how many people follow each of your boards as well as how many likes and repins you have.

Repinly: Serving as a directory for the most fascinating pinners, most popular pins and trending topics on Pinterest, Repinly offers significant insight into what Pinterest users are looking for. Users can see the most popular pins during the last 7 or 30 days or view the most popular pins of all time. In case you’re wondering, the most popular pin ever is this cheesy garlic bread recipe boasting over 96,000 repins. This is a valuable tool for writers, bloggers and businesses to track current trends.

Pin4ever: Do you sit up at night worrying that your pins will be lost forever? Rest easy. Pin4ever backs up your pins so that you’ll have them…well, forever. Apparently, even Pinterest accounts are vulnerable to hackers who love nothing more than deleting the pins you've slaved over. The app creates a backup of all your pins on your computer, complete with links to the original source. The app is also available for Android devices through Google Play, the Amazon App Store and Nook Apps.

The number of Pinterest apps is likely to grow as the pinning site grows in popularity. Are you a casual user or a pinning pro? Tell us your favorite Pinterest apps in the comments!
