Ferguson Ruling Brings Protests to NYC

The ruling in Ferguson, Missouri has been setting off sparks all over the country. The worst has been in the city itself, but we’re feeling the repercussions in New York as well. Protests have been happening throughout the city, shutting down arteries such as the Lincoln Tunnel and FDR East River Drive.

Naturally, it’s understandable why there would be such outrage. Police abuses have been coming to light more and more in recent years and an officer getting away without punishment despite shooting an unarmed man just pushed everyone over the edge. While riots and mass destruction serve not to help but to worsen the situation, protests must happen in order to let the powers-that-be know that this sort of behavior from officers in unacceptable. Let’s just hope that those of us in NYC can keep our heads about us and that marching will be as violent as it gets.
