Unique NYC Travel Guides

Being a tourist anywhere can be tough, but visiting New York City for the first time? Eek! In such a huge place with so much to do and see, it's easy to get lost. Don't panic, though. All you need is to locate the nearest bookstore and pick up one of these excellent travel guides. As an added bonus, these books will introduce you to a much more “native” NYC, helping you blend in with the locals while simultaneously learning the navigational ropes.

Discovering Vintage New York: A Guide To The City's Timeless Shops, Bars, Delis & More by Mitch Broder is a wonderful resource for visitors hoping to see the sights while learning about the rich history upon which this city is built.

Secret New York: An Unusual Guide by T.M. Rives not only offers a unique insight into the wonders of NYC for tourists, but for locals, as well. I couldn't possibly do this book justice myself, so I recommend checking out its full synopsis. It's truly a worldly tourist's dream.

NYC Basic Tips and Etiquette by Nathan W. Pyle is less about places to go and more about unwritten rules and excellent advice for visiting - or living in – the city. As guidebooks go, this one is a must-read.
