Increasing Your Sim Social Home's Value

In order to unlock the ability to buy garden plots, your home has to get to level 50, with a home value of $1,020,000.

There are two good reason to focus on the value of your home in the Sims Social Facebook game:

1. It's what your friends see
Let's be honest, Sims Social is a competitive game, too. The one-upsmanship is definitely a part of the appeal. That being said, the figure your friends see beside your icon at the bottom of their screen is your home value. Not your total value.

2. Eventually you can get more garden plots
It's the dream of many Sims Social players to buy more garden plots. In order to unlock the ability to buy garden plots, your home has to get to level 50, which is a home value of $1,020,000.

Not to state the obvious, but if you buy a new outfit for your Sim, or if you just stockpile Simoleons, these things do not increase your home value. Anything that you add to the property does increase the value - even if it is stored in your inventory.

Strategy point 1: Save up and go big
There is a ridiculous amount of depreciation in this game! If you buy something and you later decide to replace it with something else, you will be lucky to sell the original item for pennies to the dollar. It's not worth it. Therefore, you're better off saving up your Simoleons to buy one big item, rather than buying a lot of smaller items that you upgrade later.

Example: instead of buying a small window, leave that wall blank until you can afford one of the really pricey windows.

Strategy point 2: Cut the clutter - keep it in storage
If you buy something, then drag it into your storage area, it still counts towards your home value. This is the best way to build home value without cluttering up your property with a bunch of oddball, expensive, but potentially ugly items.

Strategy point 3: Weigh the cost versus the reward
When you mouse over an item in Shop Mode, the pop-up window will tell you how much value that item adds to your home. For example, the flamingo shown above costs $100, and only gives you a $50 boost to home value. I bet if you poke through the store enough, you can find an item that costs the same, but gives you more home value.

Strategy point 4: Don't forget the plant life
I have often been surprised at the home value boost you get from some of the plants and trees for sale in the Outdoor section of Shop Mode. Plus you don't have to water them, and they look somewhat normal if you just cluster them all together at the back of your lot.
