NYC Pre-K Fail - Health and Safety Drops 9 Schools from Program

Mayor de Blasio’s plan to bring pre-kindergarten into the mix by farming out education to 1700 schools is already hitting a snag. Health and safety is getting involved and they say that 9 of the schools on the list are in violation of their contracts. Another 36 locations are having their start dates delayed for similar reasons. Currently, the kids will be moved to other centers until the safety issues can be addressed.

Something like this is to be expected though, considering the sheer size of this project. Some are claiming that there’s a political struggle going on regarding de Blasio’s Pre-K plans, but that may be an exaggeration. Personally, I can’t think of anyone that would want to hinder educating New York’s youth. Then again, it’s politics, so you never know.
