Woman Can’t Tell Reality from Fiction, Sues NYC

It seems as if people trying to sue the city of New York has become the latest trend. The most recent case is perhaps the most ridiculous yet. A woman has decided that she is going to sue the Metropolitan Transportation Authority because she was frightened by one of the adverts they put up. As the story goes, she was walking down some stairs, turned back to see if her husband was there, saw a poster for the Dexter TV show and then stumbled and fell down the stairs.

Damages to the woman in question include a broken ankle, a concussion and... wait for it… the costs of psychiatric care to get the memory of the poster out of her head. Seriously? You get scared of a television advert and you’re scarred for life? And then you sue the city because you’re too stupid to tell fact from fiction and lose your balance? Let’s just hope this one gets thrown out, or we’re going to have to establish a government Bureau of Fear to regulate what we’re allowed or not allowed to see in public places in order to protect our feelings.
