Scout Willis Speaks Up about Her Topless Protest
When the daughter of Bruce Willis and Demi Moore walked around NYC with her breasts hanging bare, she was doing it in protest of what she sees as unfair and sexist treatment by the folks that run Instagram. Unfortunately, the general news community seems to have been more focused on the fact that someone semi-famous was outside naked in the streets rather than what she was trying to say.
Now, Willis has stepped up and tried to explain her intentions to people. In a world where men are allowed to show their nipples off when and wherever they please, women are still denied this freedom. While the entire city of New York lets women choose if they want to wear a shirt or not, Instagram still holds to the old-fashioned notion that women’s breasts are, above and beyond all else, objects of sexuality. And while these notions are not likely to change soon, Willis is bringing the issue into the news. Her fame may be clouding the real issue behind her protest, but at least some people out there are getting the message.
