More Corruption in the System – NYC’s Senate Leader Arrest Rumored

In yet another case of a politician gone bad (and actually being caught), Dean Skelos, the New York State Senate leader, and his son may end up facing corruption charges soon. This is the long-awaited end to a federal inquiry that they’ve become the focus of recently. So what are the particulars? The usual – Skelos has been making deals with businesses and giving them preferential treatment in exchange for kickbacks.

This seems to be a trend with New York, as an Assemblyman was just nailed for corruption about three months ago. And while we can safely say that not all New York politicians are corrupt, we must still wonder exactly how many other criminals have wormed their way into the system where they can take advantage of their positions to inflate their bank accounts. With any luck, more federal investigations will catch even more of these thieves and we can finally clean up our state politics.
