Tasty Treats: Copycat recipes galore

Plus classroom treats for Valentine parties

Do you like to find copycat recipes online for all of the foods that you enjoy at chain restaurants like Red Lobster, Cracker Barrel, Olive Garden and other popular places? My husband’s famous potato soup actually began as one such copycat recipe. He tweaked the Old Charley’s and 54th Street recipes until he came up with something smoother, spicier and perfect for our tastes. If you’d like to find a boatload of such recipes, visit All Free Copycat Recipes to find the perfect one for you. You can find straight copycat ideas as well as variations, such as healthier versions of your favorite recipes.

Looking for something completely original for your child’s Valentine’s Day party, school celebration or other February treat occasion? Check out these adorable gummy bear cookies from A Beautiful Mess. I’ve been a gummy bear fiend my entire life, and the kid in me wants these cookies right now.

Speaking of holiday parties, we have a Valentine’s Party coming up next week and per our last name, we are assigned an appetizer to bring. (It makes me wish we’d signed up under my husband’s last name, since that would mean we could just bring a snack or candy!) Group appetizers for a large amount of people are just not my specialty. Have any ideas that we can use? Maybe something that’s not too expensive but will still feed around 30 people or so? I’m thinking about making our pull-apart bread again, which was a hit at a 4-H meeting.
