Weekly reads: How to encourage creativity

Plus ancient fish found, seven day work weeks and more

Read about concrete ways to encourage creativity with your family at home. The accessibility tip is definitely the one that works best around my family! If I leave craft supplies out, or even on an eye-level shelf with Wood Sprite, you can bet they will be used.

Have you heard that there are companies encouraging teachers to go into debt by purchasing their students’ supplies with loans? This is beyond ridiculous. Where is all of this education spending going, anyway? I’m no fan of schools, but I’m also no fan of taking advantage of people and going into debt. Teachers are doing their jobs and should not have to fork over money for supplies—let alone go into debt for them.

Over Thanksgiving, I complained about how retail workers are expected to work like robots rather than people. Now in Wisconsin, legislators are proposing a seven-day work week for retail workers. This is absolutely despicable.

An ancient fish with four legs has been discovered. It may prove to give the scientific community lots of insight in terms of the evolutionary chain—and it’s just cool to think about!

Did you hear that Radio Disney was teaming up with Ohio oil and gas industries to promote fracking to children? This is outrageous! Radio Disney has since dropped the tour, but I wonder how many children are now in love with fracking due to these efforts.

For the first time in history, more than half the members of Congress are millionaires. Interesting, right..?
