Seattle Storm Dance Troupe
Plus how to get involved

Have you ever dreamed of dancing alongside your favorite team to the roar of the crowd? How about leading the crowd in cheering your team colors on as you dance to music and enjoy the spotlight? The Seattle Storm Dance Troupe has been a huge part of Storm games since the Storm began in 2000. Youths from all over Seattle audition to become a part of this mixed gender group of talented dancers!

The latest Storm dance troupe team consists of Brady, Starley, Kaylee, Sarah, Amanda, CiCi, Michelle, Becca, Taylor, Tia, Kyler, Rosa, Alex, Avery and Levi. Members audition and are selected by the Dance Troupe Manager Monae Thomas as well as members of the Seattle Storm Events and Entertainment department. Auditions take place over a three-day period, during which youth all over the Seattle area come to show off their talents.

Dance Troupe clinics are also available to help youth become better dancers, better athletes, make friends and have fun! Clinics take place at The Furtado Center where the Storm has its practices. The clinics cost $50 and include a t-shirt, a ticket to a game, participation in a half-time performance with the Storm, the chance to learn new Troupe choreography and much more.

Dancers for the team are ages 5 through 15. In order to audition, they must be able to attend both audition days. The co-ed team provides leadership and entertainment during every home game at the Key Arena, so potential candidates should be prepared to attend every home game. The manager of the troupe looks for a variety of talent in each member, but experience in hip hop dancing and jazz are both recommended for the best chances of selection.

To apply to join the troupe, potential dancers should bring a headshot photo (non-returnable) with them to the audition. Candidates should also print and sign the waiver necessary to join the team. They may complete the audition form at the Seattle Storm website in order to be notified about future tryouts and more information. Some questions required on the form include where the candidate attends school, dance background information, age, special skills and which dance school, if applicable, the candidate has attended. They also ask about where the candidate heard about the opportunity and how many years the individual has been dancing.
