Could this be the end of the Legion of Boom?

The Seahawks have done a good job of retaining the talent on their roster, especially the core talent that has driven and will continue to drive the success of the organization. Of course the names that undoubtedly belong in that core group are Russell Wilson, Marshawn Lynch (at least he used to be), Richard Sherman, Earl Thomas, Kam Chancellor and after this past season Michael Bennett has solidified his position within that group.

Though one of those players within the core could be on their way out. Not only that, but it could be a pillar within the Legion of Boom.

Kam Chancellor did not do himself any favors this season towards his ultimate goal of a pay raise. We all know about his two game holdout, but when he was on the field he was no longer the difference maker he has been the past three or four years. Although the fact of the matter is, the Legion is no longer the intimidating force in the league it once was. Richard Sherman upped his game even more this year, as did Deshaun Shead and Jeremy Lane when give nthe opportunity. But Chancellor and Thomas were a shell of themselves.

By his own admission, Thomas found himself out of position on a lot of plays early in the year, oftentimes trying to hard to make a big play. Chancellor, had some big plays, game saving plays but failed to improve in the part of his game that could be seen as a weakness. His shortcomings in coverage were often exploited by opposing tight ends, and no doubt the Seahawks will be looking to address that this offseason.

Reports say that the Seahawks are showing an interest in Duke safety Jeremy Cash. It's not likely Cash will outright replace Kam, but the writing is on the wall.

Factor in that Bennett is likely to again ask for a (deserved) raise and both Lane and Shead are free agents, general manager John Schnieder will have some tough decisions to make should Chancellor again force the contract issue. Lane is an unrestricted free agent, and will most definitely receive lots of interest. Shead on the other hand is an exclusive rights free agent and can be retained with just a minimum offer.

Kam again finds himself with no leverage, hopefully he and/or his agent realize this and don't attempt another doomed power play this summer.
