Player Retrospective
Have you checked out this part of the T-Bird site?

You probably know the T-Birds’ website front to back by now. You may have used it to buy tickets, get your Seattle Thunderbird merchandise and keep up with everything team related. But have you checked out the Player Retrospective section?

Under the “Video Zone” on the homepage of the Seattle Thunderbirds website, there is a section called Player Highlights. When you click there, you can see a bunch of fun videos of players both currently on the team as well as ones who’ve moved on to the big leagues or elsewhere. You might learn some player facts that you’ve never even heard about before.

For example, did you know that Matthew Barzal also likes to play basketball? You can see a video about him and his midget league on the site. “He might just beat you with just power and speed,” his former coach said. How about Justin Hickman, who played for the Birds just last season and was a fan favorite, now on the Bruins? You can see some of his most famous highlights in the “retrospective” video. From Calvin Pickard to Brenden Dillon, player quotes to jokes (you can hear “You need a haircut!” in one of them, a hilarious line that several young men may hear from coaching staff), you can enjoy lots of fun T-Bird videos in this section of the site. New ones are added, so be sure to check back often to see what’s fresh.

One of the most fun things to do when you check up on old T-Bird players is to find out what happened to them. Did they make it to the NHL? Maybe they’re playing in the AHL. Did they choose another career path along the way? A fun way to check on these players is to visit the Alumni section of the T-Birds’ website. Dillon, for example, went along to play for the San Jose Sharks, while Nate Thompson is a member of the Anaheim Ducks. Some players also went abroad to play internationally, like Yashar Farmanara, who is playing for the Miskolc Polar Bears.

What do you think will become of the current roster of T-Birds? Who do you think has the greatest chance of getting drafted into the big leagues, and who do you root for the hardest? Who is your favorite Thunderbird of all time and where is he now? Share your thoughts and ideas below in the comment section.
