Earl Thomas was awoken by the NBA All-Star festivities this past weekend.

After seeing all the fun had by that league's players...Thomas took to Twitter to voice his concern with the NFL.

Earl's tweets spoke volumes, as it took a job at the NFL and their recent concussion concerns that have dominated headlines the past few seasons. 

In not so many words... Earl Thomas tweeted out the the NFL should be more like the NBA and celebrate the players (adding...while they are still here) 

That latter was the concussion jab to the league, and Thomas brings up a good point.

It was Chad Ochocinco (Johnson) and Terrell Owens (TO) who really took the fun out if things.

Well not really, but their over the top celebrations led to the NFL putting a stop to many celebrations. 

Each Sunday TO and Johnson would seemingly see who could outdo the other. TO used popcorn, pom-poms, and infamously pulled out a sharpie to sign a ball mid game.

Johnson used a pylon, a Hall of Fame Jacket, and even proposed to a cheerleader during a game.

Much of this was just in good fun, and the fans ate it up. Earl Thomas would agree these were all good forms of celebrating the NFL players...while they can.

At times though, the celebrations went to far...

Most notably a game pitting the Cowboys against TO's 49ers got dangerous due to celebrating. After scoring a touchdown, Owens ran clear to the star in the middle of the Cowboys stadium on the 50 yard line and struck a pose. 

The Cowboys Emmett Smith later scored and reclaimed the star for Dallas running to the 50 himself. TO would score again though... and again run to the 50 to celebrate. The celebration was short-lived though, as a Dallas defender met him there and whalloped him. This led to many scuffles that needed to be broken up.

However, this was the exception for the most part. Many others joined in the fun with celebrations and it really helped put names to the faceless players. Let's face it, in the NFL unless you are a huge name many do not even know what you look like...given all the pads, facemasks, and even visors. 

Then came the NFL, famously known as the No Fun League during this time. Essentially they made it so you can only spike the ball after they changed the celebration rules. Well spike it or do all the ridiculous dances you see now.

The NFL made it so that no group celebrations could occur nor could you use any type of prop. There was also certain rules about going to the ground and the time allotted to celebrate. 

Earl Thomas may not see his feeling pick up steam. I am sure it will not make it to Rodger Goodell and the competition committee, but atleast it is a start.
