Minors Power
No power in the majors? True, so far.
But potential power is brewing up nicely in the minors -- just don't expect it in Seattle anytime soon.
AA: Carlos Peguero. 23-yr-old, 6-5, 210, LH, Dominican corner OF prospect.
Ridiculous High Desert stat #1 -- 67 singles, 66 extra base hits (21 dbl. 14 tpl, 31 HR)
Ridiculous High Desert stat #2 -- 172 K in 491 ABs .971 OPS. Then he missed all of 09 with injuries.
Now he's back and is getting right into the same groove. Last night he homered and doubled for 12 XBH in 21 games. His 9:23 BB:K ratio isn't quite the 19:24 he put up in Everett two summers ago, but (as with Poythress) it's not a disaster either. Before the year off, he was playing OF, but this year I note that he's only played 1b and DH.
His line to date is .280/.355/.561.

has a higher ISO for Clinton than Raben does, just as many home runs, and he's striking out less. Kid's been incredible.

Franklin is looking awesome. Tearing up A ball (5 HRs already) in his first full pro season as a SS.
If he ends up mashing A+ (nice hitters park for that) by the end of the season we might really have something.

A player is one of the best prospects in baseball if he dominates AAA at 22 ... AA at 21 ... A+ at 20.
Slugging >600 in A ball at 19, as a middle infielder, is a dominating performance the first month.
Zduriencik will be glad if and when he ever gets some help out of his own system, so he doesn't have to quilt his team together out of >27-year-old players.
