Donovan Neuls is the #19 player for the Seattle Thunderbirds. Neuls shoots left and plays center on the ice. He is 5’10 tall and weighs in at 181 pounds. He was born on October 24, 1997 and hails from Grenfell, SK. Neuls’s career statistics since signing on with the T-Birds include 77 games played and 7 goals. He has 20 assists, giving him a total of 27 points during his membership with the organization. His PIM is 36.

The T-Birds signed Neuls on to play in March of 2014. He received a WHL Standard Player Agreement. Thunderbirds general manager Russ Farwell confirmed the acquisition, informing the press that the team was very pleased with the addition to the team. Farwell also called Neuls “an intelligent player who has worked hard to improve his game over the last two years.” He went on to praise Neuls’s involvement in both offense as well as special teams, calling him a complete player.

The selection was made during the eighth round of draft picks, making Neuls the 157th pick of the 2012 Bantam Draft. He was a rookie in a large group of new players that year, along with players Alexander True, Nolan Volcan, Nick Holowko and Lane Pederson. The men had high expectations following their first season, especially since they were followed by another 11 rookies looking up to them for guidance. During his first year with the team, Neuls was tasked with working Seattle’s checking line with Scott Eansor and Nolan Volcan—an important task that does not always fall upon the young shoulders of rookie players.

During the 2013-2014season, Neuls was a member of the Moose Jaw Generals. The Moose Jaw Generals are part of the SMHL. During this season, he put 19 goals on the board and aided in 33 assists, racking him up 52 points and 38 penalty minutes while with the team. He was the team’s lead in scores for the season.

In September, Neuls sustained an injury in a game against the Spokane Chiefs. The hit, made by Hudson Elynuik to the knee, left Neuls reeling on the ice. He required a brace and crutches following the incident.
