Brush Up on Brad Evans Facts

He’s a defender and middlefielder, and he wears the #3 jersey for the Seattle Sounders. His name is Brad Evans and he’s known as the Sounders’ “Humanitarian of the Year,” a title he achieved through his work in the community in 2015. His career statistics include 195 games played, 170 goals scored and 14,915 minutes played.

Evans stands at 6’1 and weighs 170 pounds. He was born on April 20, 1985. Some of his awards include 2005 Big West Offensive Player of the Year, 2006 All-American, 2006 Big West Offensive Player of the Year, Player of the Week in Week 33 during 2012 and MLS Team of the Week in Week 22 in 2014. He was dubbed All-Big West as a sophomore, junior and senior. Prior to playing for the Seattle Sounders, Evans was a member of the Columbus Crew. Before that, he played in the USL Premier Development League for the Orange County Blue Star. The Sounders acquired Evans during the Expansion Draft of 2008.

Some of Evans’s career highlights include setting a record at college (University of California, Irvine) for goals scored with 31 goals in four years of school, earning 16 caps with the U.S. National Team, being a member of the U.S. U-20 National Team, playing on both the MLS and National Team and each of the five U.S. Open Cup matches.

As ambassador for the club, he has raised cancer awareness through the 30 in 30 initiative, helped raise $83,000 for the Ronald McDonald House in Seattle with the Men in Kilts campaign and participated in many other humanitarian efforts, such as United in Green and the Seattle Humane Society. Other Sounders Humanitarian of the Year nominees for 2015 included Cristian Roldan, Lamar Neagle and Micheal Azira.
