I think Taylor has the potential to be a better bat that that, Matt....if he can get his K rate down to his AAA level. In 400 PA's with Tacoma last year he K'ed 61 times. In 100 #Seattle PA's he K'd 31 times. That's twice the rate. In '14 he was at about twice the rate in #Seattle as he was in Tacoma, too. But a .313-.394-.460 AAA line isn't chopped liver. That's better than Cano's was. OK, not a comparison. But I'm not dooming Taylor because of 100 lousy MLB PA's at age 24.

Cano's agent said rumor of Cano being unhappy in #Seattle did not come from the Cano camp. Both times the M's played the Yanks this year the NY newspapers were spreading the same bile. In there opinion nobody in there right mind would be happy leaving NY for #Seattle. I don't take rumors seriously when they come out of NY or #Boston.

Headline: "Robinson Canó: #Seattle Mariners Player Is Unhappy in #Seattle and Wants to Leave, Reports Say
The second baseman has played with the Mariners for two seasons after signing a $240-million contract in 2014. The former Yankee reportedly told a friend he is interested in returning to #New_York." So there's that.

OK Doc, here are a few UW Hoops comps. I know you asked for NBA, but since this is #Seattle Sports Insider why don't we try this with a NW focus on former #Seattle Supersonics (and maybe a few former UW players)?

We are only 2 games into the players first season so I have not seen them play enough in real games (some youtube highlights) to make rock-solid statements, these initial impressions are subject to change.

DiPoto making moves just for the sake of activity / restocking with his kind of player? Best case, it's the #Baseball analogue for Pete Carroll's 300 transactions his first two years in #Seattle ... Carroll came out of USC extremely familiar with the rookie fringe player pool. DiPoto is advertising that he knows and understands these 0- and 1-option players around baseball. Dr. D isn't assuming a lot as far as whether DiPoto is right.

The CHL has announced that the #Seattle Thunder#Birds are ranked 7th in the fifth edition of the BMO CHL Top-10 Rankings for the 2015-16 season. These rankings are selected each week by a panel of NHL scouts. Good job T-#Birds! The #Erie Otters were ranked 1st.

Reply - JulienSwift - 11/19/15 5:15pm

I was a little excited to see what the T-Birds could do this season. So far they have not disappointed although I would have thought they would be ranked higher by now.

And interesting 40-Man issue: We have only 5 (non-1B) IF's on the 40-Man: Cano, Seager, Taylor, Marte and (utility) O'Malley. It is likely that all of those guys will be in #Seattle after ST. We have no MiLB IF's on the 40. Accordingly, I think we'll see some guys with MLB experience who don't make the 40-man cut. Either Baron or Hicks will get dropped (assuming we've got Ianetta). I think Romero will be dropped. He's frozen out right now. I will not be surprised if Robertson gets dropped even though he was just signed.
