The most romantic restaurants in Portland

Portland’s restaurant scene is amazing, with a huge variety of cuisines and levels of fanciness. Want a traditional dining experience? We’ve got it. Interested in trying out a cutting edge food cart? We have those, too. In fact, the hard part can be choosing which restaurant to visit on date night. With that in mind, here are our bets for the top three most romantic restaurants in Portland, OR.

LaMarcus Aldridge 35 points a game in the playoffs

.

The Blazers have got a fun team to watch.  In 2013, my son and I went down to the Rose Garden ... er, Moda Center ... the night that Kobe Bryant played 48 minutes and scored 47 points against the Blazers, trying to single-handedly shove the Lakers into the postseason.  Thing is, Damian Lillard went for 38 himself and pushed Kobe into blowing his Achilles.

"He was out there cooking with gasoline" said Kobe, glorifying Lillard, and thereby glorifying himself, since he'd beaten Lillard.  "Lillard came out and just started torching us.  I figured I would try to keep up the pace.  it was like a marathon runner, when a guy just takes off, and the guy behind him doesn't really want to chase after him but he just has to keep pace."

::: swooon ::: how wonderful Kobe is.

At any rate, Dr. D does indeed go for Lillard's game (20.7 ppg and 6.5 apg this year), so in theory (with Aldridge down low) the Blazers would now have the 2-man inside outside game that makes them legit.

New DVD releases for the week include 'All Is Lost'

This week’s slate of new releases looks really great, particularly if you like dramas. From the Robert Redford lost-at-sea drama All Is Lost to the Ridley Scott thriller The Counselor, I’m about to have yet another mini movie festival at my house. At the end of each year, I always think, “Wow, I spend entirely too much time at the movies.” Yet this year, so far, I’ve realized that for every film I do see in theaters (nearly weekly through the summer), I miss three or four others that I wind up loving.

Nelson Cruz - Con

.

Here are six arguments against Cruz, courtesy of Tyler's Think Tank.  You go amig-O.

In anti-SSI style, Dr. D's reactions are concise (for once!) so as to leave room for point/counterpoint.

.

He's Old

Therefore you're "paying for the decline phase."  This is true of every free agent, and was the argument that Tony Blengino made against the Robinson Cano signing.

Okay, no free agents.  That's our new org policy.

.

He's Injury-Prone

True.  Big guys are, especially this big guy.

In this specific case, Dr. D covets an Oakland A's situation, 9 players filling 5 spots.  If you want to play tomorrow, give me a pro at-bat today.
