The Greenwich Hotel is a great hotel in the Tribecca area of New York.  For couples that don’t mind spending a few extra dollars, the level of luxury is worth the money.  This hotel is elegant, yet in an old fashioned way that has a creative and traditional feel to it.  Intimate and cozy, Greenwich is perfect for a romantic getaway to the Big Apple.  Even though it feels like a small hotel, it still has great amenities such as an indoor pool, a gym and a top-notch spa.  Nearby, there are plenty of fine dining option

RIP Elmore Leonard

Writer Elmore Leonard passed away this week at the age of 87. Leonard's writing talent was legendary, and he leaves behind a body of work which includes many of the best crime novels of the genre including Get Shorty, Out of Sight, and Rum Punch.

Someone sent me a link this week to Leonard's writing advice which appeared in the New York Times. It remains as fresh today as the day it was written.

Catskill Park

Whoever said that New York isn’t filled with green beauty and wonder has never been to Catskill Park. It’s so beautiful that it attracts about a half a million visitors every year. This lovely park in the mountains is over 700,000 acres wide, so large that it is located in four different counties. Enjoy the greenery on a romantic camping trip, or if you’re into hunting take down a beast for your baby. The reservoir views are absolutely breathtaking, and even with so much wilderness there are plenty of paved areas for your parking and camping needs. Have you ever enjoyed Catskill Park?

Battle Island State Park

Do you live in or near Oswego County in New York? If you do, you might have already been to Battle Island State Park a time or two. Named after a battle that took place in the 18th century, it’s now a place to find love. Meet up with a golf cutie at the course or try your hand at cross-country skiing with a new lover if you dare. There’s also a food concession at Battle Island State Park if you need it, but a picnic is always much more romantic. Whether you love history or nature or both, this park is a great spot for your next date.

New York's "Stop and Frisk" ruled unconstitutional

Probable cause? Pfft, New York was having none of that nonsense. Mayor Bloomberg defended the city's "stop and frisk" policy, which allowed police officers to stop anyone at any time for any reason and give them a pat-down. And to no one's surprise, a lot more non-white people ended up at the wrong end of a stop-and-frisk than white folks did.
