St. Patty’s Day in NYC

The next time you go out to celebrate St. Patrick’s Day, don’t forget that all that drinking you do has a reason behind it. The first modest celebration occurred in 1756 and was held in a tavern. The parade aspect wouldn’t show up for another 8 years and it was not even remotely like the event we see today. The parade was organized by the military for many decades, finally passing on to the civilian sector after the War of 1812.

Exploring New York’s Rich Music Festival Scene

If you and your loved one are fans of live music, take a day or two out of your busy schedule to explore the New York music festival scene. It can be the perfect way to spend some time together enjoying something that you both love. Early June is the time for the Governors Ball Music Festival. For three days you can check out not only great music, but plenty of amazing art and food as well. Or take a trip to Randall’s IslandPark in late August to see Electric Zoo, a gathering of some excellent electronic artists.
