NYC Corruption Now Extends to Day Care Centers

Yet one more institution in New York has fallen to corruption and this time it’s something that might really get your anger to rise. Nine day care centers have recently been accused of stealing taxpayer money, sometimes at the expense of children’s well-being. There have been cases of blatant health and safety violations, falsified hiring and even a center that wasn’t even open. Luckily, no children came to harm because of these scamming idiots.

New Map of NYC to Be Smell-Based

Tired of plain old New York maps that just tell you where to go and point out important landmarks? Sick of using your eyes to read those maps? Well, one arguably eccentric British artist is going to offer up something a little different - a Smellmap. Yes, you’ll be able to navigate your way around the city using your sense of smell. From musty subways to garbage-strewn alleyways, everything will be covered. Whether or not this becomes a regular method of getting around the Big Apple, however, remains to be seen. I’m guessing the answer to that mystery is “no”.

NYC Working to Ban Job-Related Credit Checks

There’s a phenomenon going on the US that is not only an invasion of privacy but discriminates against people based solely on their economic status - credit checks for employment. Despite whether or not you’re qualified for the job, a mandatory credit check can mean that a potential boss will dump you in favor of someone that’s learned to play the credit score game better than you.

Parking So Bad in NYC that Some Are Charging $1 Million For a Spot

Having a little trouble finding a place to park your car? New York is pretty crowded, so it’s no wonder that parking spots are hard to come by. One swanky condo complex thinks they may have found a solution though - charging more per square foot for a parking spot than they do for their apartments.

NYC’s Rats to Become Stars in Their Own Movie

When I say that New York City’s rats are about to become that stars of a movie, I’m not talking about cute little animated rats that run around talking and getting into all sorts of adventures. Nope, these are the real deal, the rates that live under your feet while you walk the streets of the big city. And really, it’s about time someone paid attention to them.

Dead Bodies Floating in NYC Waters are On the Rise

Well, here’s an interesting bit of news. It appears as if NYC is experiencing a new and unusual problem as of late - dead bodies floating in the rivers. Don’t worry though, it’s not likely that these are folks that have been given cement shoes and sent to a watery grave (those types rarely float back to the surface). The real reason for so many “floaters” is because of an increase in bridge jumpers. Still, if the numbers continue to rise, New York may end up having to form a river clean-up crew to keep things from getting too clogged up.
