Baseball is a tough business. It is not a business that your average working man, with a 401(k), a union rep, FMLA and some semblance of job security can relate to. Other than the owners, press, and peanut vendors, each person who is employed in baseball, including the general manager, his coaches, scouts, trainers, analysts and players, all operate under the same directive: You live in baseball only so long as you find work, and you work only so long as your labor improves winning at the major league level.

You learn quickly in this business not to put too much stock in stats from foreign leagues.
The range of talent and experience varies widely. There is not a lot of depth. And the fields and umpiring aren't very consistent.
And, many of the very best Latin American players come directly to the U.S. anyway.
Just a few weeks ago I was talking about how much I like Amanda Bynes as an actress and potential role model for my daughter. Her films are clean and funny, she’s never gone off the deep end—oh, wait. Just these last couple of weeks, she’s been raising hell online with strange comments and photos of herself, and was even arrested at one point. Apparently she’s now confessing it’s all for attention. Oy.
