A Night of Performing Arts in LA

As one of the US’s centers of culture, it’s no wonder that Los Angeles has more than a few great venues for those looking to check out the best of the performing arts. The next time date night arrives, consider one of these spots as your destination. The Performing Arts Center of Los Angeles County is the hub of it all, featuring multiple venues such as the Dorothy Chandler Pavilion, the Walt Disney Concert Hall, Ahmanson Theater and the Mark Taper Forum. No matter what you’re looking for, they’ll have something going on there.

Anthill Pub & Grille, Irvine

Anthill Pub and Grille in Irvine is everything you could want from a great, laid-back drinking spot.  The atmosphere is a little bit loungy and a little bit divey, the perfect comfortable bar for a night out.  They offer up a wide selection of beers and cocktails at prices that won’t break the bank.  And the people there, both customers and staff, are relaxed and just there to have some fun.  Stop by to listen to some live music and enjoy a drink or two and maybe chat up someone new.  Has anyone been to Anthill Pub and Grille before?  How was your experience there?

Muggles, rejoice: A 'Harry Potter' spin-off movie series is happening

I've got to hand it to J.K. Rowling: The woman knows how to drop a bombshell. On September 12, 2013, muggles far and wide were positively stunned when Rowling and Warner Bros. announced a movie franchise based on Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them. Wait, what?! Yes, that's correct: Rowling is going to adapt the fictitious Hogwarts textbook for the big screen.

Media Hijinks - Reboots, Geeky Shakespeare and Zombie Education

This week in Media Hijinks, I begin with news of yet another Hollywood reboot!  Yes, I know it’s surprising, but they never seem to run out of old ideas to pillage, and this time around the victim is Stargate.  Even though they already made a ton of TV material for this old flick, the original creator, Ronald Emmerich, wishes to fulfill his initial vision of having the story be a trilogy.  So we should expect not only a Stargate reboot, but a minimum of three movies.  And probably a bunch of TV stuff afterwards, if history repeats itself.
