<p>Which is why I offered Smith (responding to your first post, Matt). Hey, Smith is nice, no doubt. But he isn't THAT great and indications are that he's slowing down. In '09 and '11 he hit .300 vs. RHP. His career average vR is .276. But over the last 4 seasons he's hit .259-.258-.270-.258. And he's a career .210 hitter vL. I like the guy...but I would would rather have Conforto's future than Smith's '16 (I'm assuming '17 isn't ours because of the decline). Smith and Paolini or Lara might get you in the ballpark, then you add from there: James Jones, young arm....be aggressive. NY has a chance to win now. I would chase this trade and have no problem offering up what it takes. Were I NY , I would just call up the kid....but they seem not inclined to do that. #Oakland is chasing him, I would rather he be with us. And I have caught my typo, it is Conforto...I was hurrying along again. Did it twice.</p>
