Last year, Joel Corry wrote us the Cliffs Notes on holdouts ranging from --- > productive to suicidal and everyplace in between.  It's a definitive read.

And it's a funny thing, because we fans think of agents and get images of 12-month-olds crying and banging their spoons in their high chairs.  But, if you take a second to actually listen to them, they're usually quite reasonable.  Hey, Microsoft isn't going to hire you as their representation if you just tell all their business partners "sit down quickly and write us seventy for your one hundred."

Let's excerpt his Cliffs Notes as they might apply to Bam Bam:

Which film took the top spot at the weekend box office?

Last week, I predicted that Gravity might finally fall from the top spot at the weekend box office, thanks in large part to Johnny Knoxville's new comedy Jackass Presents: Bad Grandpa. I was right. Gravity, it was a great run and you were an awesome 2013 film but it's time for a new box office winner, I suppose.

Blackberry Farm

For couples that want an elegant and stylish place to stay during their romantic weekend away, travel about four hours east of Nashville and just below Knoxville is the Blackberry Farm.  This is a luxury hotel in the Great Smoky Mountains that is intimate and remote and designed specifically for romance.  Enjoy more than 4200 acres of nature as you hike or bike your way around.  Or spend some time fishing if that’s your thing.  When you’re worn out, head back to the farm’s spa and relax.  Whatever you do,

Mojician on NFL Violence

.

As a True Believer in the values of the Founding Fathers, I'm not quick to hand the government control over the personal choices of individuals.  However, there is a point at which choice crosses the line.  Society doesn't permit ritual duels on a reality show - sign a contract, both agree to a life-or-death manhunt, survivor gets five million.  We think that Mojician will confirm that if two men voluntarily enter into a duel, the survivor is chargeable with first-degree murder.

It's hard for some young folks to get ahold of the idea that you can be committed to a cause (e.g. the government is there to punish evil, not to parent the citizens) while still applying those principles in nuanced ways.  My takeaway from Matt's post was that --- > he believes that the NFL is over the line as it pertains to the damage in inflicts on its players.  Sure, some things are over the line.  I don't believe that riding a motorcycle without a helmet is even close to that line, but I believe that ritual duels are, and it's possible that the NFL is.

I always wonder about intent-to-injure ... a Saints defender trying to take out a QB's ACL ... and whether it should be charged as a crime off-field.  Wonder whether Mojician would go for a law that allowed prosecution for this specific behavior.

Mojiician - if you just joined us, he's a trial lawyer - with a sparkling post on the subject.  Kibitzing in italics...

1. Bet the UNDER on the runs scored.  Check.

But no need to panic, kiddies.  The M's struck some balls sharply.  McCarthy and Colon didn't give them anything cheap, but not all SP's will pitch as well as McCarthy and Colon pitched -- ahead in so many counts, so well located in the hitters' counts.  Nor will so many batted balls find mitts.

Hey, the M's are on pace for 162 homers.  Scope out the team run totals for high-HR ballclubs ;- )

............

2.  Colon moves the heater around the zone at will, taking advantage of Nelson's home plate calls, and he thumps the M's with the fastball barrage.  Check-a-roon-i.

True, he mixed a few changeups in late, but if you saw the game, you got the idea.  A crisp fastball, inside, outside, knees, jam pitch, and you'll get outs.
