It’s Kentucky Derby time and for many New Yorkers this is the perfect excuse to throw a party. There are events taking place all over the city on May 2nd and here are just a couple you may want to consider.

Baseball is not "popular" in the way football is. What's the second most-watched sport after the NFL? College football. Anyone ever seen a crowd of more than 100 at a high school baseball game? This week, Kentucky's University of Pikeville announced the formation of an eSports program revolving around League of Legends, which includes a scholarship track and everything. The University of Pikeville follows the trend set by Chicago's Robert Morris college, which began with a League of Legends track and has since added Dota 2 to their roster of official college sports that students can study.
When you’re not in the mood for fancy drinks that cost you an arm and a leg, try hitting up one of the city’s best dive bars instead. Go solo or bring along a date, either way a good dive bar is a fun way to spend the evening. The Hill-Top Tavern is one famous spot. Not only does it have the customary cheap drinks and classic jukebox, but apparently Bill Murray likes to frequent the place. Or head to the Kentucky Inn for a friendly cast of regulars and some of the best bar food in the city. And if you prefer a spot where you can barely move, check out the aptly named Squeeze Inn.
