Rehtaeh Parsons was a 17 year-old Halifax girl who was raped, then bullied by her classmates after the pictures were made public. Some of her classmates called her a "slut," others blamed her for the attack, and basically everyone either looked the other way or made Parsons' life measurably worse. The school system failed her, the police ignored her report, and eventually she committed suicide by hanging herself in the family bathroom last April.
