What’s Happening Wed: Things every woman needs to stop doing

Plus Miyazaki, "mild" pedophilia and more

I am utterly in love with this list of 23 things that every woman needs to stop doing. Please share it. Please do it. Or don’t do it, rather.

Have you heard about how Richard Dawkins defended “mild” pedophilia? Seriously, sir?

This male actor dressed as a woman to highlight how women in Egypt are experiencing harassment every day. It was a wakeup call to him, but hopefully it will also serve to help stop this violence.

Here are 50 ways to be generous through random acts of kindness. Take the challenge and do them all or pick something to do for someone today if you like. Alexandra Franzen also has this amazing list of what to do when you feel overwhelmed with the Internet. I absolutely love her stuff!

Hear about the poverty tsar in England who is telling women to get a job instead of having kids? Way to promote feminism and choices there, tsarina—not to mention to shame women.

Remember the mom who peered at teen girls on Facebook and pronounced their clothing choices as inappropriate in a blog post in which she featured her half-naked sons? Yeah. Melissa Atkins Wardy over at Pigtail Pals gives the best response to this mom that I’ve read yet.

Say it ain’t so: Miyazaki is retiring! Is it really possible that The Secret World of Arietty is the last piece we’ll see from him? This makes me so sad. I wish you luck, sir, and thank you for the gifts you’ve given the world.
