The IFC Center Presents A Cronenberg Retrospective
If you're looking for some truly original – and wonderfully bizarre – entertainment for you and your friends this winter, why not head down to the historic Waverly theater? All through this month and the next, as part of Waverly Midnights, the IFC Center is screening the films of one of history's weirdest and perhaps most important filmmakers: David Cronenberg.
IFC's Cronenberg Retrospective started back at the beginning of December, but it's not too late to enjoy some of his finest films on the big screen. Every Friday and Saturday at midnight from now until February 21st, you and your fellow movie buffs can enjoy powerful performances from actors like Viggo Mortensen, James Spader and Jude Law, all laid out before a backdrop of raw emotion and unsettling sexuality that only Cronenberg can provide.
Playing soon at the theater are Crash, eXistenZ, A History of Violence, Eastern Promises and more. Each film will be shown twice (once on Friday and once on Saturday), so you'll have a couple of chances each weekend to experience Cronenberg's work up close. Tickets are free to the theater's Auteur-level members and generally run around $14 for everyone else. It's best to get there early if you want a good seat.
