Unicorn Skills in Sims 3 Pets
I gave an overview of unicorns in my last post, but I wanted to dig a little bit deeper into their special skills. Unlike any of the other "alternate life forms" that the Sims has introduced, unicorns can actually do a lot of interesting, useful stuff!
All of the following will tap some of your unicorn's magic power. This power regenerates itself automatically. It doesn't hurt your unicorn to run low (or briefly out) of power, although they get a negative moodlet when it happens. Basically it just means that you can't ignite 20 fires in a row.
Bless Fauna
Unicorns can bless and curse both fauna (animals) and flora (plants). "Bless Fauna" gives a Sim, cat, dog, horse, or other animal a +40 positive moodlet for 8 hours. The blessed animal also sparkles during this time. 40 is a pretty strong moodlet!
There is also something in the language about being lucky… I haven't tried this, and I suspect that the blessing doesn't actually make you more likely to win any games of skill.
Curse Fauna
This gives a -40 negative moodlet for 8 hours, and provides a dark aura. I haven't been able to curse anything with my unicorn yet, she is just too happy and loving of people, I guess. The Curse interaction shows up on the Mean menu, which has not appeared for my unicorn. (I wonder if you need to have a negative trait for it to work?)
Bless Flora
This causes a sparkle effect on plants, and makes seeds and seedlings instantly grow to the next stage. It also has a chance of turning a plant into Life Fruit. Unicorns may be able to revive dead plants by blessing them.
Curse Flora
This causes a plant to die. Tee hee!
Ignite
This is an excellent way to destroy public property. Just click on the ground or object and select "ignite." By the way, where is the fire engine in this town? My unicorn fires always burn unchecked for ages before some random Sim comes by to put it out with a fire extinguisher.
Extinguish
Okay, sure, your unicorn can also put out its own fires, but where is the fun in that? This skill might be better used to put out a Sim who catches fire when they flub their ride through one of the pyrotechnic jumps.
Teleport
Instantly transports your unicorn to the new location - and its rider, as well. This might have a lot of potential for working through tombs, since you don't have to sit and meditate for hours first. (Then again, I'm not sure how you would feed a unicorn in a tomb, so there's that.)
