I feel like I owe Mr. de Jong an engraved apology. Earlier this week I likened him to Anthony Vasquez, a man who allowed 35 runs in 29 innings. Literally the worst pitcher I've ever seen: so bad, in fact, that I thoroughly enjoyed watching him just for the batting-practice novelty of it all.

de Jong just pitched a better game than Vasquez was capable of. Will it repeat? Put me firmly on the Worst Bet side of the ledger, hoping to be proved wrong. I just can't imagine success for a man with absolutely zero weaponized pitches, none at all. Still, I've upgraded him from Worst Bet Ever, so his mother will be happy to know he's moving up in the world.
